About the event
Local duo Jo Jukes and Rick Wilson are back at the Hermon for the launch of their third album ‘Being Human’.
Expect world drum rhythms and emotive lyrics coupled with an eclectic mix of stringed and percussive instruments. Jo's songs speak from the heart, songs about the natural world, songs about humanity, performed in ever evolving ways as they develop into different genres.
Joined again by regular collaborator Niall Ross on saxophones, their original sounds seem unclassifiable. Acoustic guitar, Hungarian zither, slate marimbas, a handpan and even a pair of sickles as percussion. How can you resist?
Rick has been a working musician most of his adult life. From post punk kit drummer with Family Fodder and The Work to studying Indian chenda temple drumming. Rick has accompanied storytellers and theatre productions, been a jazz workshop drummer, was part of the Oswestry Street Band and is resident djembe workshop leader…
